TCF Global Community Sewing projects

CALL FOR HELP!

The Textile, Clothing and Footwear Resource Centre of WA (TCFWA), Designedge Fashion Incubator and Business and Professional Womens Clubs of Belmont and WA (BPW) are calling for donations to assist with the TCF Ormoc, Philippines community sewing project.

The innovative project aims to provide new opportunities to 21 community sewing centres and 130 women and men living in regional Philippines to expand their existing small sewing business to generate their own income and to further assist additional community sewing centres and new businesses to commence operations.

The project seeks to assist creativity and talent to foster a sense of entrepreneurship in the community. TCFWA are searching for donations of any sewing related materials.

  • Sewing machines and overlockers, machine needles, spare parts
  • Sewing tools, scissors & equipment of any kind
  • Finishing equipment, irons, ironing boards
  • Haberdashery, trims, ribbons, zips, buttons, sewing threads
  • Dressmaking stands, sewing patterns, embroidery kits
  • Sewing books, craft magazines and sewing kits
  • Textiles and fabrics, rolls or textile remnants
  • Sewing items suited to babies, childrens, teenagers, mens, womens and home interiors

2009 TCF Ormoc Community Sewing Collection has received local generous support from Matilda Bay Rotary Club, Belmont Forum Shopping Centre, MMH Consultancy Services, Belmont BPW and a range of local individuals donating goods and volunteers for the collection of sewing machines and help with packing.

TCFWA Manager Carol Hanlon plans to utilise her extensive fashion industry and TCF networks to foster a co-productive relationship between these Filipino women and men to connect fashion designers from around the globe to the TCF Ormoc project through product collaboration and future small business opportunities.

TCFWA & Designedge Fashion Incubator are Belmont based non-profit community organisations that established the TCF Global Community Sewing Project. Business & Professional Womens Clubs Belmont and WA (BPW) aim to assist development projects supporting women.

Donations will be accepted only until Friday 31st August cash donations will also be greatly appreciated and will go towards the cost of sewing machine repairs and additional machine spare parts.
