ACCC EDUCATION: DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE ENTERING INTO A FRANCHISE

In the new year, many people may look to purchase a franchise. When purchasing any kind of business, it is important to perform due diligence before making a purchase decision. In order to help prospective franchisees understand their rights and obligations in relation to a franchise, the ACCC has funded a free online education program. 3 NEW LAWS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

The new year brought with it legislative changes ALFREDO that affect consumer rights, pay rates and parental leave. To make sure you’re up-to date with the latest changes, contact [email protected]for further information.

BEWARE OF EMAIL AND SMS SCAMS

Unfortunately recent natural disasters have shown how quickly email and SMS scams canl be generated to try and capitalise on people’s willingness to donate money to victims. After the Queensland and Carnarvon floods and the Lake Clifton bushfires, came a bogus SMS declaring: “Centrelink has processed your Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment. Payment will be made to your account within 48 hours”. Government organisations will never randomly phone or send text messages to initiate a benefit claim.
